Default Front shock removal trouble

I have an '02 z28 that I am putting strano springs and koniSTRT shocks on. I got the backs put on and the passenger side front removed but when I tried to remove the driver side and the wonderful torx head bolt holding it in rounded out!! Now I can't get it out. I was able to get the one under the brake fluid reservoir out. Any suggestions?

If it is completely rounded out you'll have to either drill it, use one of those easy out deals or cut the head off and drop the whole assembly from the bottom. I'm assume you are replacing the rubber mount so damaging it shouldn't be an issue.

I did the exact same thing. Had to drill it out. Replaced it with a hex bolt after the swap.

If there is no way for to hammer a larger torx into the bolt and get it out this is really your only option.

What about a mini pipe wrench on the head of the bolt? I've used a mini pipe wrench before to remove stripped bolts but depending on how seized the bolt is, it may not be enough. Worth a shot if you have a mini pipe wrench laying around.

Other methods are :

Take a cutting disk and cut a grove so that a big flat head screw driver fits in and then use some vise grips to turn the screw driver.

Or you can weld a nut onto the top of the bolt and get it out this way.
