My TA got wrecked
#5
She pulled out of parking lot across a highway. I tried to swerve around in front of her but didn't quite make it. I was going 55...if I would have just jumped on the brakes I would have t-boned her in drivers door.

glad everyone ok but thats repairable. doors are cheap as dont rust out. get a 1/4 skin with some door jamb be rite back on road. not worth the fuss of writing it off. plus gives a reason for new paint job.

sorry to see this . If it gets totaled I always ask how much to buy it back either to repair or to part out - been able to turn lemons into lemonade a few times over the years with buying back cars
just the value of the engine/trans dropout with pcm harness is a lot of times pretty close to the value or greater than the value on some rougher cars ( not saying yours is rough it looks darn nice)

They want $1400 to buy the car back with a salvage title. Between their lowball "valuation" and parting it...I'm hoping to get back what I have in it
i can still take less and keep a clean title on it, but I'm no body guy so can't fix it without taking more of a loss.
Plan was to tear down and build motor, trans and rear end this fall so I guess it's good that it happened before that

Buy it keep it doors probably $200 1/4 cut $250. salvage title not a big deal with car of its age, not like a year old car. I know parts are cheap. If 98 camaro same door and front 1/2 of 1/4 my buddy has them. thats a easy home garage fix if you have a buddy that can weld. If not auto paint supplers have metal to metal bonding glue. It works very well but you need to have car and piece ready as sets up fast. Just fit panel use some small screws to hold in place while glue sets overnite. Next day remove screws do little filler work. Best thing on glue you dont risk sparks burning anything. A mechanically inclined person can cut grind and fit it together. Then find somebody to finish it out for you.

I think the better bet would be a part-out as planned. That would be my move as well.

Glad no one was hurt as others have said and I'm with the others that think parting out is the way to go. I had some bimbo tap the left side of my car and I couldn't believe how much the shop wanted to fix it. Thank God that she was at fault.

I have the experience of cutting/putting cars together. Yes it sucks but thats more band-aid fix to doing 2 salvage cars into 1 marrying them together. I clippedover 50 or so cars working in bodyshop 10 years. Gluing part is easy, it the puzzle matching of parts. Door easy unbolt & rebolt. A guy needs to overlap 1/4 piece bout an inch for glue area then work it out with small amount of filler
