Default Getting an LS3 Vette this week

Finally pulling the trigger. I found a stock 2009 C6 LS3 6 speed car with only 14,000 miles. Its pretty much perfect and I cant pass it up. My question is how much is it going to take to make it as fast as my 425rwhp h/c ws6?

Its rated at 430 hp so im guessing it puts down around 390 stock?

You think it will take that much? Full bolt ons will put that LS3 at the same power as his old heads and cam LS1, plus it's lighter

Corvette 3220
WS6 3500

Aerodynamics go to the ls3. Hopefully I dont have to do too much to equal it out. Ive already spent enough lol

Lol I bet! Maybe I'm wrong but I'm betting it's only gonna take a bolt on or two with a tune to be as fast as your old WS6

If its going to take full bolt ons ill just wait a year or so and do a cam swap. That should take care of the problem.

Oh yeah that would definitely do it lol. Although I must say I beat a full bolt ons C7 recently and didn't expect that lol. I'm around 450-460 rwhp on a good dyno I'm sure. I'm sure there are videos and whatnot with bolt on LS3's against HCI LS1's somewhere I'd imagine

you have to remember thats a mustang dyno so if youre going by a dynojet as a comparison it wont be accurate.

what do ls3 vettes run stock mid to high 11s? if thats right then yes he'll need pretty much full boltons to equal a H/C fbody imo. once he adds a cam its all ls3 vette.

You could be right but in all honesty I've seen mustang dynos read similar to Dynojets on more than one ocassion. I think his 423 rwhp is very honest number, and that a full bolt ons LS3 would make around that on that dyno as well

i dont know. im thinking hed make around 50-75 more HP on a dynojet depending on what trans he has. i mean all dynos are different but theres definitely a difference between them both. its about 13% on average.

a full bolt on ls3 vette makes right around 420-430 with a good tune but the vette is lighter. I'd say with a healthy bolt on list the vette with equal the ws6 no problem and probably edge it out with full bolt ons but it will be tight.

the vette drivetrain saps the ls3 power pretty badly. I made 450whp with my bolt on ls3 in my fbody but in a vette it would have been good to hit 430. the irs and rear mount trans dont do anyone favors

Headers/CAI/Tune LS3s make 420-430whp... Lol lots of people overestimating his old WS6. If the LS3 was in a 5th gen it would be a different story but it's in a lighter Vette.

ok,420-430 on a dynojet right? his H/C car wold probably make 480ish on a dyno jet also.

going with the weight advantage id say thats a close race.

Thanks everyone. I'll probably leave it stock for a year or so then bring it to Slowhawk for a cam swap. A cam only ls3 vette should be fast enough for me
