Buying a 5.3 question I have found a 5.3 in a 02 Tahoe. The junkyard wants $400 for it minus ac compressor and alternator. He would want more for the computer and harness. My main question is why would I need the computer and harness if several companies sell both to fit your application. Seems like if you have your own computer and harness that all they do is clean it up and re-program it for a very small savings. Am I looking at this correctly? Please advise.....and thanks in advance

If u are keeping the engine stock u will probably get the ecu from the junkyard for way cheaper than a new one and if it's the original one on that engine then u know it should work. If u are going to a standalone or some aftermarket ecu then don't worry about it
