Exclamation Camshaft stuck halfway

Trying to remove the stock cam out of my LQ4.
Can't get it out further than half way. I've confirmed no lifters dropped in the meantime (can't see how they could anyway with the dowels all the way in).
Seems like it's stuck on a journal and cam bearing.
Any thoughts or advice?

It's likely you have a lifter stuck. They will drop past the dowels. It looks like the engine is on a stand, and the heads are off, why don't you just pull the lifter buckets and lifter out, and see what the problem is?

Also, put some water pump bolts on the cam so you have some better leverage. I agree with removing lifters as well..

I'll take the lifters out and report back.
My concern is that the rear cam bearing may be stuck to the rear journal.

If that was the case the cam wouldn't have come out that far, pull the lifters and lifter buckets and look at the cam...

Looks like it was the second last cam bearing. ***!
I'll pull the rear cover off and see if I can get at it that way.

And there's the culprit. Had to slide it over 1 lobe at a time with a flat head screwdriver through a lifter hole.
Now off to a machine shop to have them remove the rest, check the surfaces and install new cam bearings.
