Default Gen III 4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0 Castings Location Quick Review A walk around showing some locations of the casting numbers on an actual 5.3 LM7 & 6.0 LQ9. Hope this helps. After removing a spark plug, a camera borescope was used to take a picture of the top of the Piston to help determine if it was a 4.8L or 5.3L (4.8L is a Flat Top Piston, 5.3L Cupped Piston).
