buying a used engine...crank question & assembly question
I found a good deal on a local, used engine. It is currently disassembled and looks to be in good condition from the pictures.
The owner says that everything is in good condition except for the crank because he "disassembled it, sprayed it down with WD, but missed the back side of some of the journals so theres some light surface rust but no pitting"
Crank question: Ive read that SOME pitting is ok but how much is too much? What does bad pitting look like?
Assembly question: Ive never put an engine together. Are there any special tools required for assembly?

What kind of engine? If it was me I would have it turned .010 and get a set of Clevite or Federal Mogul bearings ans forget about it. Buy some good books on Amazon about rebilding your engine and READ them cover to cover. Keep them handy and USE them for reference when you get stumped. FWIW, Bill
