Default '99 Z28 for $6000

A friend of mine has a '99z28 that he told me he would take the payoff for it which is $6000. It has leather, ps,pw,pl, the air works good, and so does the cruise. It has 98,000 miles on it and the car is completely stock. It has a clean title, but the only thing wrong is that he hit something and had to replace the hood, driver side fender , and front bumper cover. It has since been repainted and the paint looks well but he put the ugliest spoiler and hood i have ever seen on it. Basicly the car will have to be repainted but my question is IS THIS A GOOD BUY?

Either get us some pics, or a better detailed description of the car..... Just remember that usually you get what you pay for and ususally if something seems too good to be true it is

so u dont like autos i take it? A bolton M6 car wont hang from a dig with similarly modded A4 car with a nice stall!! Stalls also are way better for the track and help that ever important driver mod! Time in my Sig was the first time i had ever gone down the 1320, and if it were an M6 car im sure it would have been 14.2 instead of 13.2 because of the damn launch. But anyway, lets get some pics. i would be careful and have it checked out before u buy.

I will get pics as soon as i go get the car. I have never had a M6 car before that had any kind of power so i thought i might try it. I already have a M6 and a spec 5 clutch. I don't mind an A4 but they just cost so much to have built and they usually don't last in stock form from what i have been reading.

I ran a carfax on the car and it says that the car has 140,000 miles instead of what the odometer reads which is 98,000. Forgot to add it has zero mods. Is this still a good deal for a '99 Z28 A4 car for $6000?

I bought a 122k mile 98 Formula for $5500. It was worth to me and that should all that matters to you. A good way to find out the mileage is to have it verified through a tech 2 at the dealership. The odo reading is stored in the PCM so you should find the one that counts. Besides, if you dont post a pic of the car, nobody can fill your head up with good or bad vibes on the car your looking at. If its a friends car, you should be able to hold some trust or knowledge about how they cared for it. Happy hunting!!

i personally don't mind higher mileage cars. BUT they have to be in great condition, not makin' funny noises, and runs good. Plus the deal has to be right. Sounds kinda shady but if you like the car and don't mind then pick it up. the money you saved you can put back into the car to make it sexy

personally if your looking for a LS1 f-body you should really take your time to look around finding the best price and condition of the car cause 90k miles and 140k is a big difference esecially when the odometer was set back intentionally if that was the case.
So why does your friend want to sell it in the first place?

00' Formula, A4, 3.23's, lid, catback...pacesetter's coming soon!

I'm pretty sure he says that his freind is trynig to pay the car off in the original post, probably doesnt want to pay intrest especially on a car thats no longer under warranty.

Do not buy this car. They are never quite 100% right after a collision no matter what they body shop says. I know. I've wrecked enough of them. Hit something at <25mph once and bent the unibody slightly. It always pulled jut a little and was annyoing. They rattle more too.

Paint/body work is expensive, too.

If you want an M^ buy one. Do not buy a car to swap if you're on a budget.

This does not seem to be the car for you at all.

Nope. Not at all. I've seen $5,500 cars on here with better descriptions and less miles.

Don't give in. Wait. Buy the car that's for you.

If someone swaps motors and/or PCM, will the mileage on the dash represent the later engine/ pcms miles? I would see if it had that kind of a swap. Either way I don't know if I would get involved in a 140k mile car w/out good resources.

I'm going to pick the car up in the morning. I want an LS1 car bad and this car is still very nice and is at the rite price to where i can have plenty left for mods.He is selling the car cause he is tired of the payment. LS1 motors are great and after seeing a few of them apart after high mileage i'm not at all worried now. I do have a 6.0liter and some L92 heads that will most likely be going in the car.
