Default Do you guys rev-match?

someone told me that when u downshift, you should kind of rev it up a bit to keep the Rpm's there and save ur clutch. i mean i do it sometimes.only like if i wanna race, so from 50 i rev match into 2nd gear but 5th-4th i usually dont. How many of you rev-match?

I always try and do it, when you downshift and your car "jumps" from the increase in RPMs its more strain on the clutch and the whole drivetrain, Im not saying your going to blow your rear from a simple downshift but its more strain, so if you can why not prevent it

you dont use a clutch to downshift? so u mash it into a lower gear? probably why you're better of with a A4...

Depending on the situation (such as a stop light) i put in N or push the clutch in till a stop, then back to first. however if i am slowing down because of traffic, i shift down to third and it usually never jumps unless im going 45 in fourth then back to third, then it jumps and since i usually not going that fast its not a big deal.

That is true! I shift my truck without the clutch. I only use it in 1st gear to take off, after that once it gets a certain rpm it will just drop out of gear into the next. Its not for racing purposes... But just puttin around you can do it.

you HAVE to rev match when dropping down to a lower gear because the transmission locks you out.
