Most of the short sticks have a problem hitting if you DO NOT have a factory Hurst shifter. Many people have had issues if you put one on a stock non-Hurst shifter. Trim up the console or try adjusting it perhaps?

short sticks will only work w/ the factory hurst or other aftermarket shifter, not with the stock crappy GM shifter

dude what r u talking about? factory= gm

i put the ws6 store shifter on the stock shifter (the base)..and it hits the 2,4,6 gears bad. i dont see what you r saying. I ended up putting my stock stock shifter back on (the long one) and its fine.. 2nd gear barely touches..

Cool

The one you have does it look like Lou's stick, pic on the right?
You just might need a short stick with the bend toward the driver side.
I have a Pro-5.0 stick that should fix the prob, pic on the left.
Cut to 6.5" brand new never used. Let me know.

I have the UMI short stick on the non-Hurst base. It hits the console if I shift hard. I'm saving up to buy a new shifter so I won't have that problem. The factory one is way too sloppy

I had the same problem, and I don't have a Hurst shifter. So I took the stick back off, placed it in a vise and proceeded to bend it with a mallet. The stick is bent ever so slightly, just enough where the shifter won't hit the center console. I've driven about 4k miles with this setup and never had a problem since.

If you don't want to do this, you can always contact the WS6 Store and return it.

If he would have gotten Lou's short stick we wouldn't be discussing this right now.

Is this the shift handle they are talking about? It came with our LS1/T56 form an 02 WS6. It has a bend in it that I assume is to clear the rear of the console. We are not going to use it, way to short for the 67.

I just bought a used Z28... I noticed it had the same problem. I took it apart and found a lou's short stick on the factory shiter. Who ever istalled it bolted it up with the bend to the rear. I simply unboted the short stick, turned it around and bolted it back on... Problem solved.

I thought the bend was supposed to go towards the driver?

I would have thought the same thing if I hadn't seen it... With the bend toward the driver on the stock GM shifter... It would almost not go into 2,4 & 6, actually it had worn off the black paint on the short stick from hitting the console. And in 1,3 & 5 it was in roughly what would be the middle position. I turned the bend in the oposite direction and the position in all the gears is perfect, not too far forward and not too far back.
