Default LS1 Shopping Advice

I want to get an A4 LS1 that will NOT be a maintenance headache for 2-3 years. What's a good rule of thumb for the mileage? Maybe around 100K miles would be ok or what?

These cars will last as long as you dont abuse them too bad, as long as regular maintenance has been done you should be fine except for the normal wear and tear stuff. im at 100k on both mine and they are doing fine

True. Well, my '95 Z28 has 189K miles on it and has been a maintenance headache since I bought it in 2003 at around 145K miles. Should I keep it or talk my Dad into buying me an LS1 around 80-100K miles? - which I haven't had much luck doing.

Anything can happen at anytime. My 01 SS has 65k my TA is a 98 and has 137,000. My SS's alternator went out at 61k and my TA is still on the original. Saying which car will be maintenance free for 2 to 3 years is like asking can someone get you a girlfriend that won't **** you off. Its not gonna happen

Well, I hope the maintenance free statement implies nothing major, but then again, you are correct. You really can't know just make an educated purchase.

I would have it looked at, i bought my z28 with low miles, but the clutch went out and the trans was in bad shape, found all that out after i had bought it and that it had been sprayed on before also.
