c5 or keep my fbody?
hey guys i currently own a cam/bolt on m6 98 Z28. ive had the car a little over a year now and love the power and tickets i get with it... haha but lately ive been kinda debating on whether to keep my fbody and get the body work/paint/ and more motor work done, or selling it for a c5 to start over again. i have always liked the vettes but obviously the insurance would climb and i would have a payment with the vette versus my paid off camaro. i have driven several c5's lately dont mind some of the prices ive been seeing
them sell at right now. i really enjoy how well they handle especially at high speeds. i have stock suspension on my camaro and was planning on upgrading but even after the upgrades will my car still feel as good as the vette for highway pulls. give me your input

I would not trade your F-body for a C5. Not worth it, IMO. Now, if you're ready to make the step up to a C6, that's a different story.

Drove an '02 Z Monday. Huge difference in ride. Much smoother, more nimble, better fitament. Just didn't look as good as my TA. However, I am trying to find a good deal on one so I can try them out side by side for a couple of months. Can't wait to get it out for track days!!!

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but it's more likely that your rates will go down with the 'Vette. Less wreks in 'Vettes than in F-Bodies. Call your provider to get a quote and see.
I'd go black/black M6 C5 in a heartbeat, but I don't have the money to make the payments even on a high-miles '97. I'd even love a late C3 (black/black, white/red or white/white) if it was a stick. Carbed LS2/M6 (with side pipes if black) would go right in, Y2K C5 rims and fat tires would go on it.

According to my insurance company the risk on a 'vette was 19 out of 21 compared to the camaro that was 21 out of 21, so it was cheaper for me to have my vette, and for whatever reason.... my audi is even more expensive.

i LOVE C5's there was a guy around here (maybe 26-27) with a black on black targa M6 corvette with chrome C6 Zo6 rims on it that i just loved. The other day he was making a left turn and waiting for traffic and got smoked by a old lady driving a full size truck. Nothing left of the car from the doors back and all the glass outta it. he walked away but it was REALLY hard to look at i got a little sad inside seeing it. It had like 150k miles ('98) but he kept it nice. Anyway if you can afford it and really want one i'd say go for it but get exactley what you want in it. Don't settle for what ya don't want and do some shopping.
P.S. and for the guy who said he wasn't impressed with the C6 Zo6.I've driven plenty of LS1 cars and wasn't overly impressed with them over my LT1 BUT i got a ride in a silver C6 Z06 and i about had a heart attack when he punched it. The thing FLEW and we hit 145-150 in not time. Instant wood

Go for the C5, I sold a T/A last year, and wouldn't replace the C5 with another Fbody, I might pick up another Fbody for a drag car however
Much more rewarding car to drive, and much better street manors. I would have gone C6, but the prices kept me from it

those highway pulls you are craving.. = ticket.. = higher insurance regardless of which ride you choose. Personally if the vette will make you feel more comfortable dirving at higher speeds on the highway.. dont get it. It wont be worth the legal hassles if you get pulled over doing triple digits.
Take the money and make the camaro a badass ride
Just my 2 cents.
I dont drive fast, I just get there quickly
When I used to drive fast, when I was a good 10 years younger.. I did get tickets all the time.. and it really sucks.
Looks wise I wouldnt part with my TA for anything.

I sold my bolt on WS6 for a 99 cam'd FRC and was never let down or regreted the purchase. i love the vettes because of the looks and respect. Handling was nice even though i didnt use it lol
