Would selling my Ls1 98Z for a 93-95 C4 be a bad choise
1st off I love my LS1 Z28 it is auto and has t-tops and 80k miles. I have always loved the C4 LT1s 93-96 and the prices are comming down right now. for about 9-10k you can get a decent C4 in 6 speed.
This is a weekend car for me anyway, would this move even if I do it be considered going backward?
Im sure powerwise with a few bolt on's the C4 are not that much slower than the Ls1s.
there is just something about a corvette. Just thinking out loud at this point, what do you guys think?

I know that my Z is not worth enough for a even trade for a decent milage good condition 6 speed C4. I love the C5s however they are a good 6-9k more than the C4s. Just thinking right now, back in 95 I got a ride in a new vette and loved it since then. They seem a bit outdated now especially the interior compared to the c5-c6. Wish I could keep the Z and get a C4 as wel however that is not practical.

I don't think you're crazy, I'm jealous I wish I didn't have so much into my car that I could just part with it and buy a C4. I LOVE the late C4 body style as well (91-96) and as much as I love my car and have all kinds of time/money in it, I'd trade straight up for a C4 in decent condition.

If you paint it bright pink and put a Barbie sticker on it, a C4 would be a good trade for an LS1 F-Body. Otherwise, hell no. More than any other generation, the C4s are like the trailer trash cousins of the Vette family. I'd much rather have a C3 than a C4. At least then it would be a classic, IMHO.
If you own a C4 and love it, then more power to you. In no way do I mean to put you down. But, that's just how I see things.

No hate for the C4 here! In fact, I almost bought one in '04 (it was a '96 with only 9300 miles, super clean car).
I'd take a late model C4 before any C5, the '91-'96 C4 is just a much better looking car than the C5, IMO.
Although, above all else from the Corvette family, the C6 is my favorite, and at this point if I get a vette, it's going to be the C6.

my buddy had a 96 black c4 with black zr1's and it looked pretty sick. He had intake/headers/exhaust in it and i raced him in my car when it just had a lid/exhuast and stall and i destroyed him in my 98 z. powerwise, i dont think it can hang with the ls1 unless you beef the hell out of it with lt4 parts and heads/cam or blower. Looks wise, its not that bad of a car, unless you compare it to the new vettes, then it looks pretty crappy... but if your not comparing it to the new vettes, it can look good. I say do it if you truely love that style and its powerplant, if not.... keep the Z!!!!!

I have a friend with a black C4 vette, LT4, m6. It's in good shape and all, but it doesnt do anything for me. I like my car, well hell, basically ANY, LS1 car, WAAAY better than his. The only vettes I like are the C5s and C6s. Keep your car, or save to get a C5. That's my opinion.....

Man, I say go for it. I love my LT1, and if it was in a Vette it would be even sweeter. I've always loved the way those cars look when they're done up right.
DO IT!! You'll have something that is rarely seen...or at least more rarely seen than an LS1 f-bod (I'm not hating on LS1s at all).
