Firebird vs. Trans Am vs. Formula
Sorry for the ignorance, especially since it's my first post. I would just like to know what the main differences are between the three.

kinda a cool, bad and baddest thing v6 is cool, formula is bad, and the ta/ (ws6) is the baddest, with the exception of the fire hawk witch i believe is the bader...est
though this line would vary person to person between fire hawk, formy and t/a

firebird is the style of car....if you notice on our panels we all have birds....its just the type after that....like stated the simple firebird is a v6 model, the trans am has some interior and exterior upgrades...and the formula is the base v8 model.....ws6 and firehawks are a little more in detail

I have the WS.6 "Performance Package" and its honestly just a different physical appearance!...thats it! ... The only diff in these cars is who has a V6 and who has a V8 in it!

Pontiac always goes stupid with this. too many different models that clutters and confuses the consumer. Ford just labeled their Mustangs more simple. i think this helped the non enthusiasts' decisions in terms of wanting a decently fast car with the look. which is part the reason why they sold like 3x more Mustangs vs. all the Fbodies combined every year.

Dang! Didn't mean to start a riot... I'd say let's take it to the track, but I would have to have a car in order to do that ... maybe soon.
Thanks for the insight. I now know that a TA is a dressed down Formula, a Formula is a hopped up firebird, a Firehawk is what they all aspire to be, and the WS6 is when they are on steroids ... Am I close

generally
Firebird is a V6 (can get a ground effects kit)
Formula is a Firebird with a V8 drivetrain (no gfx)
Tran Am is a Formula with fog lights, some more body trim, a high rise Spoiler
WS6 Adds a ram air hood and a bit of suspension to either the formula or the T/A
Firehawk can also be ordered on either a Formula or Trams Am and has a sleeker Ram Air hood, some performance and visual modifications.
Generally, when similarly equipped, A Formula is rarer than a Trans Am.

The Formula is the straight cut, no frills, gonna kick your ***, sports car. It looks exactly like the v6 but on steroids with a v8 and t56 option. There the Sleepers of the f-body world. (Unless it's like mine, damn thing rattles the house).

Formula was made until 2002, however ---------------
Formula with WS6 was discontinued in 2000, however --------------
Trans Am with WS6 continued on until 2002
Does that about sum it up for these series of cars? Eg; after 2000 you couldn't get the WS6 package on a formula, but you could still order it on a TA???
