Default Min rpm to engage clutch

I am planning on purchasing a m6 ls1 f-body in the next few months. Since I have not driven a stick since high school, I talked one of my friends into letting me practice on his 5 speed Honda hybrid. Since I had to get his car above 2k rpm to let out the clutch without stalling, I was wondering how much rpm do you need with the Ls1 to engage the clutch?

i let it out off idle and add gas as needed. it usually falls to 600 or so, but once it fully engages it goes back to 1k then up.....no biggie for the LS1. its got the torque to move the car, unlike that honda.

^^ True that, the more power a motor has the easier it is to work a clutch...asuming you dont have a cam the size of an oak tree in there..haha...but seriously Lsx m6's are great to drive you'll have no probs.

Yes, torque makes a manual much easier to drive. Not that I recommend it but if you were very easy with the clutch you could probably get the car moving at idle.

yea basically on these cars if ur at a redlight or a stopsign on a pretty steep hill...you dont even need to go to the gas just let the clutch out slow and itll just start pulling haha it has enough torque to do that rather then a honda that has nothing

I ease it out at idle all the time, for best results take it to about 3500 rpm and dump it.

Brake pads are cheaper than clutch disc IMO.

Thanks for all the replies. I figured the min rpm would be a lot lower, although I was not sure if you could let out the clutch on an idling engine without stalling it.

you gotta do it real slow. hell, i got an LS1 with a lower idle than factory and i can do it. you got an LT1 so it should be even eaiser.
