stock a4 LS1 camaro tire spin?
Today i stopped and test drove a 2000 camaro z28 LS1 auto car, i noticed if i took off from a light and just stuffed it, it wouldnt spin the tires at all. is that normal for a stock ls1 car with 245/45/16 tires? I woulda thought they woulda spun a little or something..Other than that it seemed to run fine, but I dont want to buy it if its not running right. It has almost 90k on it..anyone have any insight?

hmm. i didnt try powerbraking it or anything, or bringing it up on the converter from the light or any type of launch, because i had my mom with me and she would bitch, but when i took off from like a 5 mph roll and just stuffed it, it just took off with no tire spin..

mine doesnt roast the tires off if its from a stand still, there's some chirps from them and I've got 64k on mine. If I get up on the converter or power break for even as little as a second and go it will roast them though, could be some sticky tires the compound of the tires plays more into hooking than the width and height also

Common. That's just how these LS1's are stock, 'specially if it's an A4 with the high gears. Not big tire spinners from the line. If you know how to drive the M6, tire spin off the line is easy, and can even be annoying on 1-2 throws.
It's all about the ET and even though they don't spin the tires big time, they'll put the times down pretty well for yesterday's performnce cars. LS1's feel slow compared to TPI/LT1 350s, but they'll pass them pretty fast in the quarter.
You're coming from a car with 4.10's... I bet that LS1 felt like a slug. Put 3.73's behind it and you'll get that spin, I bet.

Mine has 3.23's and it will spin but you really have to try. It will not spin them from a roll unless it's wet out or something but from a stop it will if you mash it. These cars just hook and go....I love it!

And that's with 275mm tires too.
Any LS1 F-body that can't break the tires free at least a little when punched from a stop (on regular street tires) has something wrong with it. Might need a tune up.

I have gotten into the habit of turning mine off as soon as I get in my car. And to think I actually wanted to have it before I bought my car. It's just more of an annoyance than anything to me. At times I'll try to go quickly (not flooring it) and the car will sense some spin and it will cut power--that will **** you off really fast when you're trying to jump out into traffic.
