Stock Z28 Dyno Tune worth it?
Ok, my car seems a lil slow, especially the 0-60, videos of other stock ls1s seem a lil faster, or mayb it could be my 2.73 gears not being able to get out the hole, you think? Im clocking around 5.9 thts not normal righht? So i was thinking about getting a dyno tune, i just got my trans rebuilt, about to rebuild my rear end, i have borla exhaust, a shift kit, and lid. Im not planning on getting headers for awhile, u think a tune will be good anyways, will i gain any hp from the tune alone? I just want my car to run better it seems like its laggin a lil.

Tune may not be a bad idea. They are fairly cheap, around $50-60 if you get the A/F ratio tuned, which I'm assuming you would be. It may also increase gas mileage slightly. Plus, baseline dynos when near stock are nice to have.

I just got my 98z dyno tuned and picked up 22hp at peak but about 15 all the way across and picked up about 34ft/lbs as mentioned above. all stock even the exhaust. added a whisper air lid and lost 1/2 hp. the AFR went nuts. When that got fixed picked up another 6. Each car is diffrent but mine liked a 12.9 AFR.

By the video it looks like a normal stock 2.73 car to me. a tune would help a little but the reason why other vids of cars hammering it look different is probably because they have a stall or gears or other mods.

I wouldn't waste my money on a tune right now. If I were you I would get me a set of 3.73 thick gears that will fit your existing series 2 carrier. Then I would get a handheld tuner. That way you can change your gear ratio/shift points and download a basic high performance tune to your car. I would save my money for a dyno tune for later when you descide to go full boltons, heads, cam ect. And there are plenty of used handheld tuners out there for sale.

Not if it costs that much though.

A good tune will run you around $300-$500 unless you know someone that does it on the side. A dyno tune usually cost a bit more usually add another $100 or so for the dyno time. You will almost always gain from a tune but with minimual mods it may not be worth it at this point. It can depend on the tunner as well. Some tunners will charge you full price the first time than any additional tuning you need down the road they will only charge you a small fee. This is something to ask if you plan on a tune now. I would personally wait till you atleast get some headers and some gears put in.
