Default What do you guys think about Q horsepower synth oil?

I ask beacuse I saw this commercial where they say it produces the most horsepower then any other leading synthetic oil on the market, which i thought Royal Purple had the most gains, I myself have been using moble 1 for the most part but have castrol 5w-30 right now

One word, marketing! Syn oil is syn oil in my opinion. Some work better than others but you wont see a gain. I would just stick to what you have been using! Nothing wrong with Mobile 1. Thats what I use. I know alot of guys here love Castrol!

Also since Shell bought out Quaker State/Pennzoil...if you notice on the bottom of those Q commercials, it says "Ferrari recommends Q HorsePower 5w40 and 10w60" at the bottom of the screen

Mobil 1 sucks. its all marketing. its NOT good oil for LS1s. people on this board have done test, sending out oil samples for analizing. M1 has been shown to break down at as little as 2500 miles. german castrol has been shown to last up to and over 7500 miles without a change.

Here is a question, from 0 miles to the miles I have on now all that has been pushed through the LS1 is Mobile 1. What if on my very next oil change I just switched to castrol. Is that a bad thing, should it not be done? Any concerns is would have/consequences. Can you just switch? Just curious.

GC 0-30 for the win. Every search on this oil turns up good things. I have been using it for about the last year, before I was using M1 5-30. I seem to have better hot idle with this oil and like said above it will not break down as quickly as other brands.

It will be fine. The only problems I have ever heard of is people going from syn to reg. Switching syn to syn should be fine.

Cool, thanks. Ive been debating about going from mobile 1 to castrol. Staying synthetic of course. I think Im going to just have to do it.
