I know what a cut ou is and...But never knew the answer to the following question. Does the ECU automatically adjust to te free flowing air? To my understanding, there should have to be some adjustements to the spark or somthing wth the fuel, as there it's free flowing when the cutot is open.

Sorry for the novice question.

Good question. I'm interested to know how that works as well. Can anyone explain how this works?

In addition to my previous question, to my understanding the car would make more power with a cutout behind each header vs one cutot in the y-pipe (my guess is around 10hp and 8lb of tourque). If someone is already putting on a cutout, setting it up one behind each header will be louder, but it's not like one cutout is much quieter.

So if someone can explain to me the logic of why people only put on one cutout, I'de appreciate it.

Thanks

Cost of 2 cut outs, divided by 2 = cost of 1 cut out.

You actually loose a few hp if the cutout is right after the header. You loose some of the collective merging from the setup if done that way. The best bet is after the Y pipe.

Is this because theres a better scavenging effect if placed in the y-pipe?

(Not sure if scavenging is the correct word.)

The reason why people only use 1 is b/c there is pretty much no gain from having 2 of them. Probally due to the Y pipes flowing very well into the single cutout

That is EXACTLY why. The scavenging effects of the headers are negated when run completely open or with very little backpressure.
