Default what do you think of a WRX as a DD

well i sold my 98 lumina that i was using as a DD. im gonna use that money to pay off my camaro. i have been looking in to 02+ wrx familey friendly due to the 4 doors. and awd for all wheather. and the 2.0 turbo should still be fun to drive. thats the thing i still want a fun car to drive, or i would buy a 99 4 door civic. yea the wrx is more then a civic but its more car too. seams there going for around 15K. what do you guys think?

My wife drives an 02 WRX. It's a fun car and excellent in the snow. We've had it since new, now with 85,000 mi, and have only had to replace the clutch. She beats it too! Only thing I can't stand is for some reason it always feels like you're going slower than you actually are. I always glance down at the speedo to find I'm doing like 15-20 mph more than I thought. This always causes me to bully other drivers cause I think everyone is being pokey, the wife has the same problem.

wrx's are nice cars and they are a blast to drive. the only thing you have to worry about is the tranny. it doesnt like awd launches. other than that it is a great car.

They are fun cars. My buddy (Trigger1 on here) DD's a 07 STI. It is a blast. Went 13.2X right off the showroom floor. WRXs and STIs make good DD's.

My brother has an 06 sti as his daily driver, aside from it getting bad gas mileage (around 19 i think) he loves it. It's great in all weather and plenty of kick too.

Also check out the Legacy GT's. Might be a touch more expensive, but also worth it. I'm not sure of your budget, but for 16k you can get a GT Limited (still Turbo'd and has the 2.5L up from the 2.0L on the WRX depending on what year you get) with about 50k on the odometer. I had an 05 GT that ran low 12's and still got over 30mpg on the highway. I averaged 27.2 50/50 driving. The key is to stay out of the gas. Beating on it it would drop to the low 20 range.

Here's a link to a vid i made of it on the dyno...

Lumina? WRX? Civic?

Yup, sure sounds like LS1 Tech, all right.

I bought a WRX when they were new & now have an 04 STI I use as my daily driver (for sale, BTW!!). Never had problems with either one of them, they are great daily drivers and I'll probably get another one in a few years.

The ultimate DD if live anywhere where it snows.

FWIW you can find GTOs around here for that price with decent mileage. I never would have guessed that. Amazing how the price on those has came down. With blizzaks they'll go through the snow fine. RWD isn't as bad as people make it out to be in the snow, as long as you got an LSD.

I think it's not LSX-related...
