"Someone" got the LS7 confused with the LS1 which was introduced for 1997 model year. Or like alot of people like to group all LS series engines into the same group.

Ah, you're all wrong!! 1970! LS7, 454 cubic inches, 460 horsepower.
Listed but never officially sold was RPO LS7, with aluminum heads, mechanical lifters, 11.25:1 compression, a higher-lift cam, and transistorized ignition. Depending on the source, output was given at either 460 or 465 bhp.

I believe a "concept-prototype" LS7 (codenamed something else, I forgot) was around a few years back (earlier 2000s). But yes, the production LS7 was introduced in 2005 for the '06 Z06.
