Default doors are too damn long

I hate how GM felt the need to make the doors on F bodies so freakin long.....If somebody even parks within a football field of my car, I have to lose 180 lbs to slide through where I can barely open the door...and I only weigh 180 lbs.

Oh, and California needs to expand the width of every single parking spot in Southern California because they are not big enough, which causes people to park too close.

Yea, Park out in the sticks. Walking is better. Sometimes I park at the end of a row if I am not planning on being there for long.

I am very skinny and sometimes have trouble myself getting out my boyfriend's camaro. I don't want to bang the door on anything so I just squeeze myself through, it takes me like 10 seconds to physically get out of the car

I like the long doors. I can't stand mid-sized coupes with short doors and/or short hoods, they look like imports.

American stuff = bigger.

I have trouble getting out of cars with short or normal doors because my feet are too big and I stumble over the front of the door jamb and the front edge of the seat. I took a faceplant (sober) in the safeway parking lot one night trying to get out of my wifes 4 door cavaler. I just got back in the car and went to the Frys across the street.

just last night my manager was giving me trouble for taking up two spots. I never park in one spot. I go to the end of the parking lot and take up as many as I want.

Ah, well if I start nitpicking, I'm sure I could find something.

But overall, you're right. For the most part I really love everything about these cars; styling, performance, ergonomics, simplicity, heritage, value - the whole package. That's why I continue to buy & keep them. I'll never understand why people buy cars they hate just to get a certain engine/trans they like. Put the engine in something you actually like, or buy a car you like and mod the engine to a performance level that satisfies you. Life is too short to own toys that don't make you happy.

don't get me wrong, I love my Camaro and my wife has a Trans Am. I never really minded the doors until I got to California. The parking spaces are way too small. I will try and park away from people but somebody with a dually always seems to park next to me. And when my Wife was pregnant....I would have to back out for her to get in. There was literally no room for her to get in.

The longer doors do make the car look sexy though, just sucks in Cali.

Sorry man, I wasn't trying to imply that you didn't like your car. Actaully my comments back and fourth to another poster above were a carry-over from another thread about some people hating these cars besides the engine and trans.

gotcha...well I should have put it out there anyways. I love F-bodies. I may hate on the doors, but it's just one more thing that only f body owners understand and can joke about. People i work with don't understand the long door jokes I make unless they have an f body themselves.
