Default Stock Motor Max Horsepower

Basically so I can prove my point to somebody....whats the max horsepower a bone stock bottom end LS1 can hold for a RELIABLE amount of time, not just a few dyno pulls. I was going to say around 600+ would be pushing it, would just like the sites opinion or contructive criticism on the subject. Thanks in advance!

I've heard 515hp is as far as you want to go on the stock crank. Once you go past that, its a time bomb. Keeping it on the rich side is just buying time.

Most peopel try to stay away from anything over 525, though 550 has been a number i have seen thrown around.

The stock crank has been shown to hold over a 1000 hp I have never heard of breaking a stock crank.. Its not the crank that is the weakness in these cars...

Wow...that couldn't be more wrong. Guys (Matt Harlan for one) have
gone bottom 8's and I believe 7's on the stock crank.

Personally, I wouldn't push a stock internal LS1 past 500rwhp.
It has nothing to do with the crank though.

I'm in the process of a forged rebuild, but left the stock crank in there. As unit said, the crank isn't the problem, nor is the block. It's the rods/pistons that will fail.

I was told numerous times that the stock crank/block are good for 1,000+ hp. And yeah, 500 is probably pretty close to the magic number.

Cranks are great in the Gen III motors... The pistons are cast so they are the weakest link the in the bottom end, although we did push them to 650 rwhp with a 2-stage 200 shot where they held up fine, but the tranny didn't.

I wouldnt push the pistons, rods, and bolts much passed 550rwhp.
The factory crank i would throw 1000hp at it all day! There are FI people in the 9s on a factory crank, maybe lower!
