to throw money at it or to sell.. that is the question
Basically i want to get myself into a 6speed lsx car. I would consider a fbody, c5, or gto (ls2). My car is in great shape considering the 108k miles it has on it, but it has its flaws. It needs brakes, shocks, rear tires, a tune, and engine/tranny mounts. I have been wondering lately if it would be worth it to just sell mine for what i can get, and what that might be, and upgrade to what i really want, or should i just convert mine to a m6 and fix the things on it that need to be fixed. I just put headers and y pipe on it, had the tranny rebuilt about 5k miles ago, rear rebuilt last year with the gears installed. i owe about 6.5 on the car and i have a couple grand i can throw at another vehicle should i decide to go that route. so what would you guys do if you were in my situation?

It depends. If I had a lot of money to blow, I'd keep the car and fix everything. Once that's done, I'd fork out extra cash to get the conversion done right. I'm a done-right kind of person. I wouldn't half-*** anything, so I'd want the conversion to look factory.

Fuel mileage is a subjective thing. If you were a M6 with stock gears you would close to 30 mpg highway...city is a different story though. A4's should net you mid to low 20's on the highway. Anyone who has owned a 4th gen f-body knows better than to pass on one because of "poor mileage." As others have said try to sell yours first and then look for the M6 car that you really want. Sounds like you are done with your car and ready to move on to the next project.

Use the extra money and fix what needs to be fix. You already had a tranny/rear rebuild. The things that need to be replaced won't be a whole lot of money depending on what you get. Fix those things and then save up to do the M6 swap when your ready. I want to do an M6 swap also but I am working on building everything else in the meanwhile.
