Default How to stop my wheel hop in my 01 T/A WS6 M6!?!?!

Hey, I tried searching a little and only came up with people asking about wheel hop with D/R's, I am on street tires.

Well everytime I try to do a little burnout/linelock in my 01 T/A WS6 M6, the car shakes violently from the wheel hop and the RPM's drop and the car stalls itself out although I am on the gas. I don't dump the clutch too high as it is the stock rear and I do not want to blow it, or I don't want to replace the clutch already, I just want to be able to do small burnouts. Anyone have any input? Thanks!

I have the same problem. When I try and slip the clutch it wheel hops really bad all the way through first and then it bogs into second. When I dump the clutch, which is rare, I also get wheel hop if I do it at low rpms. Try dumping it at 2-3k rpms if you want to go easy on the clutch lol. It should just spin like not other. I think wheel hop can be contributed to good tires. They don't want to spin well so it causes hop. I'm probably wrong but it's a guess.

Are you cutting the traction control off?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

What he said. If it is engaged, the gas petal will push up against your foot and the gauge panel will say LOW TRACTION.

Traction control is ALWAYS off in my car, I forgot to mention that. Also my tires are pretty decent tires, one of them is getting worn, but the rest are all pretty good. They are Toyo Proxes. I dont want to kill them, but I cant let a Mustang GT do burnouts all around me! I dont dump it high at all, im too nervous about breaking the rear, them ost I have so far was maybe 2500 RPM.

What makes you think its wheel hop and not your rear end or tranny going bad?

Save the tires.
There is a reason why the Mustangs are doing that... its the only "impressive" thing that can do cause they cant keep up with up!

wheel hop will bust the rear faster than anything. rev it up and dump it to break traction then you can ease off the throttle to a lower rpm and make some smoke, but you have to get it started first!

got to keep on the gas to get them spinning! also if you slip the clutch too much they wont spin as easy...bring it up to 3 grand let the clutch out fairly quick (dont have to pop it) and just keep the rpms up. post a vid of in the car or somethin haha.

Hopefully its neither of those, the tranny does feel strong and fine, also the rear seems good. I guess I just have to revv up a little higher...or just wait till they are bald then have fun

Unless your trying to win some money burn outs are kinda lame.

I can do burnouts in a geo metro...

Seriously don't waste your tires, after a couple sets you'll figure it out.

Jeez I feel like an old man.

Maybe get some lca's? If your trying to do a burn out though your going to have to give it a good amount of gas and let the clutch out fairly quick. I do burn outs in 2nd gear with ET streets on the strip and ive had no problems, you wont hurt your rear by doing burn outs on street tires.

It's funny. Guy asks how to stop wheel hop and only one post of 18 told him to "maybe" get LCAs, and it took till the 14th post.
