Exclamation WAter Pump LEaking!!!

AH! my water pump is leaking coolant in my 2000 black ss m6! I work at pepboys and the part is 134 for a new pump. then i know a show that said they would put it in for me for 250 dollars? is that a good deal? Also they said i might as well change the cap and rotor too... Any ways I am looking at $500 in total is that normal price?

WTF? Cap and rotor? Are they talking about a SBC distributor?? Maybe they think you have an LTI and the optispark under the water pump needs to be changed?? Water pumps are easy as hell to change. Do it your self.

yea the water pump on these cars is easy as hell do it yourself. It will be quicker to do it yourself than to drop it off and wait to have it done. I wouldnt pay any one who wants to replace parts that your car doesnt even have. Stay away from that place.

Well now that I think about it anyone who thinks their LS1 has a cap and rotor probably shouldnt be working on it. But you should take it to a dealer so at least you get raped on labor and not parts that dont exist. Please dont let who ever told you that work on it.

wow. Hopefully other people don't get scammed like the OP almost did! Thats why i hate when my mom or girlfriend go to bring vehicles to get worked on because they always seem to pay for parts getting replaced that had NOTHING to do with the initial repair.

**** I would change out the gasket first and see if that fixes the problem before buying a new water pump.

do it yourself so if you need to chage it again to change the pump after you try the 7.99 gasket you will know how to do it.
