Default How do I get a title?

I have a 89 camaro and the guy I bought it from never got it registered in his name. He can't get ahold of the guy he bought it from. So my ? is how do I get a title for my car, and register it in my name. I called the DMV and they said I could not get a title. They wouldn't help me or nothing (********). So if anybody has any info that'd be great. Thanks.

You could have the DMV do a title search. They will tell you the name of the person who it is titled to, but that is it. You have to figure out how to find them and get them to sign it over to you.

Good luck. I would have never bought a car without a title.

The guy you bought it from doesnt have the title? Kinda sounds like someone else owns your car and you paid the wrong person.

The only person to blame in this situation is you, OP, and only you. Not the ******** at DMV etc. I would never ever buy a car from somebody that does not have the title.

Sorry, and good luck.

Don't think this is LSx related, anyway.

You might see if you can file for a bonded title, but a quick Google search wasn't promising for Florida allowing bonded titles. This is where you pay a title company some money (a few hundred $$) and they sit on the title for a couple years, and after that, it becomes clean.

If FL doesn't have that, well, you're SOL unless you want to move it through a state that does.
