Default Just bought this. Good deal?

Finally got my 1st f-body via Ebay! The guy was 30 miles from me so I went and test drove it and checked everything over.

Its a '98 Formula M6 with 90,000 miles. Bone stock and adult driven its whole life. About the only thing I'll need to fix was a good bit of missing paint off the rear driver fender from a brush with a garage door. No leaks, smells, funny noises and she drove and accelerated like a champ. The only mod is the C4 Vette rims. Not exactly sure how much I like them but they will do and will probably fetch a decent price if I decide to sell. Tires are pretty much new.

The only big problem is that it has a salvage title. It was rear ended back when it had 35000 on it but the rear end looks immaculate.

I ended up paying $5500. Sound like a good deal to you guys?

Don't quote me on this but you may run into issues getting it insured since it has a salvage title. Also, minor correction your car is a TA not a Formula. The dumdumdumdumdum's have the same front bumper as my V6.

Really? Sweet!

I checked with my insurance company a while ago. IIRC they said it wouldn't make a difference, but the buyback would be about half if I were to total it.

I'd say you scored! The C4 'Vette wheels are pimp lookin'

I wouldn't fret too much over the salvage title. If it's been fixed right, it's all good. You didn't pay much anyway.

Unless it has a NY salvage title NY will have to issue you a salvage title

They have to inspect it first which costs $250 IIRC and it has to be trailered (not driven) to their inspection location

Also I have heard their inspections are booked months in advance

Hopefully you bought it in NY otherwise it looks like you will have to wait a month or two to drive it

I'm not in NY anymore. Minnesota now and bought in MN so its all good. Paid for this with straight cash so it's gonna be a bit before I can scare up enough extra scratch for new wheels

go to some vette forums and see if they can take them off your hands if they are in good condition

I don't think those wheels look bad at all. I'd invest in a WS6 hood before replacing the wheels anyday.

Well, before I get new rims I'll be the guy with the ugly rims who's blowing the hoods off of every fart-canned Civic in town. I didn't like the rims when I saw them in the picture but once I saw them in person it was actually pretty nice.
Ugh bought the car Sunday and have to wait till Tuesday to pick it up since there aren't any banks open. The 4 days I spent waiting to bid and win the car were slow as hell but I think today is going to be the slowest day of my life. Happy Memorial Day everybody.

nice car but IMO those wheels make that car look bad. It would look better even if it just had the stock chrome 5 spokes
