Default How good are the 6.0L GTO's???

A few weeks ago, while cruising around. I was at a stop light, and i notice a silver GTO coming up behind me. He then pulls up on the lane next to me, and as i was paying more attention to his car, since it came up next to me, and ahead a bit. I would say, my nose of the car was at his door. So the light turned green and i getta honk from behind me. So you know, i was like "ohh" lol and i took off kinda quick, and i guess the guy in the GTO thought i was trying to show off around him, or get him to race me. I gave a look towards him, and i see him give me the "NO" nod, by in a cocky way....I was like wtf??? ya know, but as he got ahead more, i then noticed the 6.0L badge at the back. Then i was like...ohh okk. Now i see why your being cocky, you got tha 6.0L LS2 GTO. (never saw the hood till i passed him later on in traffic)

My question is, just how good are these car's??? There's very few of these GTO's driving around here, well atleast i see very little of them.

theyre pretty quick. but bolt on f car will roll a stock 6.0 goat. my friend has an auto that is stock that runs 8.49's in the 1/8th and thats the only one I really know of around here. I run a bit faster than him, but its simply because they are like ~300 lbs heavier. Those cars are so nice though.

What the hell is a "no" nod........

The GTO is noticeably heavier than even a full weight Fbody. A 5.7 GTO is usually a tad slower and a 6.0 a tad quicker as a rule (always exceptions).

If they where stock you should have been pretty close to them.

It is sort of a cocky/confident/smug way of saying, "don't even bother trying", or "I'm not wasting my $4.50/gal. fuel on you" without even speaking a word. Just shaking one's head 'no'.
Or else he could have just been declining a challenge because he did not want to race initially (for whatever reason).
Who knows??

BTW; sorry for the last conflict/bashfest (about the Loti).
I usually agree with most that you state/believe/admire (with the exception of your hp/liter arguments, of course).
I am certainly envious that you can see live WRC events without having to fly around the world, and spend a king's ransom!!

I got one of those the other day from an Acura NSX owner. I enjoyed, no, rather I gloated returning the nod after I thoroughly trounced him.

Yeaa, that was basically what he gave me. A cocky nod to say, that i dont stand a chance against him.

They move alright. Probably a little faster than an F-body stock for stock if I had to guess. The only time I ever got to run a 6.0 was when I was full bolt ons (trapping 110-111) I ran a 6.0 6 speed with only a Loudmouth exhaust and pulled pretty hard. Since your car's an '02 you might have a little edge.

the 6.0 has 400hp at the crank and the f-body has 325. the gto's are a little heavier but im not sure how much, but if a stock goat and a stock f-body ran it would pretty much be a drivers race. They are nice though, my friend has one and i must say I like it a lot. The only thing i dont like is that they look like a g5 or a grand prix on steroids.

Haha, that's awesome!

Good kill!!

Maybe it was more of a "no, please don't hurt me" nod.

I test drove a 6.0 yesterday, the auto made it feel a little slower and the previous owner put 19" wheels with really low profile tires so it didnt ride very nice, but I really like the GTO interior. That one had 19k miles and they were asking $26k. I had to laugh because Ryne at CMS was selling his with a 438ci fully built that runs a 10.1 for the same price.

Another one was an 05 with 55k miles for $19k, but it had a dumb looking bodykit on the front that made it look like a neon.
