Default Cam install cost?

When I pickup a cam later in the month, I want to go to a place to have it install, since I don't have the skills, or time to do so. I was quoted $1000-$1200 for the install, is this a good price or to high? What would you guys recommend as a fair price and he also mentioned it could take up to 24hrs but he wasn't sure until he would start on it. How long does a avg cam install take and what price is fair to charge for it? Thanks

Could take up to 24 hours? and wont know until he starts on it? im guessing this is a general repair shop? I charge about 1800 for parts and labor. Labor should only be around $550. Where are you located? I would suggest finding a good shop in your area.

i would take it to a place that gives you a definate price and knows about ls1's. sounds like hes just as unfarmiliar with it as you are. look into doing it yourself or if you dont have garage/tools, go somewhere reputible. it would be worth it to me.

I was quoted around 1500-1800 and that included the timing chain, new oil pump and all of the other supporting mods and a full dyno tune.

I would not let that guy touch your car and find a well known shop perhaps one of the sponsers on here
It should take MAYBE 10hours some guys can do it in less

Labor should be around $500-$700. Install with parts should be under $2K with tune. Locally $1,700 is norm with a tune.

I had mine done at Harris a little over a year back. They did a great job and it cost around 1600 or so for everything. When I cam my current lsx's i will do it myself
