Simple science. All cars have diminished performance when temperatures go out. There is less oxygen per volume when air is hot vs cold.

+1 if you want more oxygen per volume... use.... N2O lol that should make up for the less dense hot air

The air up where I live is already pretty thin (3800+ft elevation), warm temperatures just destroy performance. I've seen LS1's run high 14's on hot days here...

Goes both ways though, extremely cold air won't help the power and can/will diminish it. Usually when it's below 40 degrees. Cold autumn or spring mornings are best.

Actually that is not correct. If you were using the engine to do some other mechanical work other than to move through the air. You would notice more power as the temp went down. The problem is it gets harder to push the car through the air as it gets denser, so the added power is not noticed.

cold is great for dyno numbers!

While yes cold autumn or spring mornings are best for track times.

Its supposed to! Your benefiting from the cold air intake temperatures, it doesn't really change the operating temperature of the engine nor should it if your thermostat is working

The way I look at it.. The heat's slowing me down, but those Mustangs and cIviCkZ aren't doing any better.

When it's cold outside, I can't get traction, and when it's hot, I hook, but don't make quite as much power.

On a perfect day I know a stock LS1 can run 10's. But we never get those perfect days

I don't know about yours but mine definitely runs a little hotter when its 90+ outside than when its a lot cooler out. This is going off a HPT scanner though and not the factory gauge which doesn't change much.
