Default High-mileage Oil vs. Synthetic Oil

My Formula has 168,000 miles on it and Im about to give it it's first oil change. It has a small Oil leak as well but not too bad so my question is
should I use 5W-30 Synthetic or High Mileage oil. High Mileage is just that and it supposedly has additives to help seal/reduce leaks. I use Syntheic in my Camaro but it is under 75,000 miles.

For the record Pennzoil is going into the bird.

Damn man congrads on having that many trouble free miles im guessing.

Is it the original motor still?
I have a 98 and it runs like a champ for the most part. Alot of people say 98 motors like to spin bearings but il tell you I see tons of high mile cars. Mine has 86k on it I believe and its been drove HARD but its been kept up with as far as maitnence
I have no opinon on the oil but I just put Mobil 1 synthectic in my car today 10w30

No I just bought the car, got a great deal on it even for the mileage. I've already had everything inspected (or inspected it myself) and its all clean except for the leak. I just didnt know which was better for the engine: High Mileage or Synthetic. Its not a issue of cost, just which is better.

All original, nothing rebuilt.

My '98 is currently at 164k miles on the original motor. I'm running 10W-30 Castrol Syntec synthetic with no issues at all.

I'm up to 185,000 and using high mileage 10w30. Actually, just switched to high mileage this past oil change. Was running regular 10w30 before that without any issues. I was also adding RESTOR to the oil for each change for about 1-2 years now.
