Default Annoying noise and SES light

Hey Guys, I have a 01 SS. My SES light is on and the code is for Cat insufficency. Would driving around like this harm my car? I want to intstall long tubes and an ORY in the future, so I dont want to waste my money on a cat. I bought the car private party. It has 59,000 miles on it. I also have this annoying noise coming from underneath the car. It sounds like when you ease off your brakes in traffic/like a light rubbing noise. I just had new brakes put on the car. It will do it after I drive a little and it only happens in drive. It sounds like it is coming from underneath the car. I can also feel it inside the car. Its not consistant but annoying. The idle is fine and car runs great. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

GM extended the cat warranty on the 00-02 cars to 10 years/120K. You could have a dealer replace it free then do LT's later. P0420/P0430 codes are most likely the cat.

if its the brakes and you just had them installed by a shop i suggest you take it back to them and let them figure it out.
