Default Security Light? and O2 sensors?

Ok.. first problem.

Sometimes when i get in my car to start it.. the security light comes on.. just stays lit up.. sometimes it flashes.. but usually just stays on. and the car will not turn over.. kinda like the battery is dead, but i have full power (new altenator and battery) i have to wait like 3-4 minutes then the light will go out and the car will start right up.. does this at least twice a weeks.. i dont have my transmitter for the car.. i dont know if i buy one and use the unlock button if it will fix the problem.. i dont really know.. never messed with Alarms.

btw its a 96* camaro.

Second ?.. im pretty sure its on here but ill throw it in here.. car goes through O2 sensors like nothing.. as in like 150 miles before they go out again and the SES light comes on.. i know these cars did this alot.. wondering about a fix?? seeing as how im only getting around 18 MPG in a V6.. (smoke comes from exhuast at idle also)

Thank you.

Jake.

First problem sounds like a VATS issue, car isn't recognizing the resistance value of the key pelet. Remote keyless entry is something different.

Try getting a new key made. I had a few problems with my security system before and a new key took care of it.

Have someone do a scan on your car. Chances are it might not be an 02. Could be like a bad ground or something like that. All kinds of little things that it could be. Might also be your cats

What kind of Gas are you running? I just bought a 2000 ws6 with 53,000. the guy said it was a bad 02 and also mentioned he had ran regular gas in it.
After roughly 3 fill-ups with premium the light is no longer on.

the car is made to be ran on unleaded.. its my V6.. says even in the dash "unleaded only".. would that still help?

and im having my dad send me my spare key from home to where im stationed to see if that fix's the security problem.. ill tell results asap.
