Royal Purple...?
I've been told by several people now to use Royal Purple motor oil (10W30) and I've done some research. From what I've seen, it's suggested for use in 4-cyliner engines... yet lots of people seem to swear by its use in camaros and firebirds. Does anyone here use it, and what are your thoughts?

I've used RP off and on for years but have switch primarly to Castrol German 0W30 due to the fact that it is a little "thicker" than RP 5W30. RP seems to be on the thinner side of the 30 weight and that explains the lifter racket when starting up cold. Also, with the Castrol German I add less oil between changes. I also send oil samples to Blackstone Labs from every oil change and that is every 3000 miles. Keep in mind that I live in Florida where it is fairly rare to have a cold morning i.e. less than 45 degrees outside.

I have used RP for 10 years now, I would not use anything but! I have used it in my 01 Suburban since new, and the thing runs like a top just clicked 105k miles, its pricey yes but I change the oil at 7500 miles per manfact. requirements. would change it at 3500 if I was running reg oil. Also use it in my 74 Vette and 98 T/A. As for filter I just use the Fram.

All those aftermarket synthetics are just overkill and a rip off. Just use regular oil and change it every 2500-3000 miles and you'll get 100,000+ miles out of your engine.
LSx engines are "by far" exotic. They were designed by GM to use REGULAR oil.
I'm just not a believer.......especially when I've had a stroker engine go 100,000 miles and my current 427 is approaching something like 80,000, and many friends with strokers on regular oil that NEVER have an issue.
