Default Headlight Question... T/A

I'm surprised I can't find anything in a search about this...

Is anyone else annoyed by how loud our headlights are when they open, and especially when they close? When I close mine it they shut extremely hard, and it really doesn't sound good if your outside the car... No grinding or whining or anything, just the closing of the lights...

Anyone have a fix for this?

No fix, but I am convinced that the slamming of the headlight doors when you turn off the lights, while they are hot, is a major factor in why I burn out several headlights each winter.

No fix, but the same complaint. We just bought a 2002 T/A WS6 two weeks ago, so I'm new to the community, but this noisy behavior is one of my biggest complaints so far. The clanging and banging when you shut them off just makes the great car sound kinda cheap to those around.

I'd love to work on it if anyone has any ideas for a fix??

Couple of things I've thought of but never really acted upon, were:

1) trying to get them to close slower (don't know how)

or

2) put some foam tape around where it shuts... to see if that could cure it...

Mine slam shut to, I always get "what was that?" when I give people rides. The reason is, its an f-body, they squeak, rattle, and make funny noises sometimes. At least its not like my brother's old 1996 firebird. After the lights were closed all the way you could hear a loud grinding sound for like 5 seconds after they were already closed. MMMMEEEEEEHHHHHH!!!!LOL

$1100.00!!!!!!!!! for a set of headlights...... what drugs do they take.
The LSx style doesn't even look like it fits properly.

You could possibly add a gear to the actuator arm so it would 'ratio' the movement.

add some layers of electrical tape on all the stoppers/bumpers so that they absorb the impacts
