Default Oil Pan Gasket Writeup

ok ok ok,

I know alot of you guys are going to tell me to do a search, but i have and i couldnt find anything. I found countless threads on oil leaks, oil pan gasket help etc...

I'm looking for a write up or something along those lines so that I can do this !
I know the K member needs to be lowered in order to make the job easier, but I would like to know the ins and outs of everything else along the way.

any threads, or links would be greatly appreciated

In some vehicles you can loosen the bolts enough and get space to use a sealant without having to drop the pan or k member.
Never tried it on a Camaro.

Why not get a repair manual for $25 and not rely on everyones "different" methods. Any way dont have a write up, but did mine less than a month ago. Place jack under K member, Remove starter, remove alternator, remove engine mount through bolt, jack up the engine with a hoist or other method, you only need 3 inches, remove bottome shock bolt on both sides, then remove 6 K member bolts, lower jack until you have enough room to get the pan out. You have to drill the 2 rivets out of the pan to get the old gasket out. SHoudl take you about 6 hours (non stop work)

Probably forgetting something, but its not as hard as it may seem. Hope this helps, a little.

thanks for the information...I was not going to rely solely on " opinions "
i was looking for a writeup just like other services have on here....

....i will relay the info back to my buddy, who will be helping me. we will have the car @ a dealer on a rack...hopefully that will shave some time off the install..

i have read about proper alignment of the gasket, how did you make sure it was aligned properly ??

he is doing a rod bolt swap, but you do the same method to get the pan off just not going as far as to change rod bolts.
