Default Check Gauge Light and Flickering Headlights

Here is my problem: The "check gauges" light on my dash quickly flashes, and my headlights (and all interior lights: radio, dash, etc.) cut out for a split second, and then come back on. The tach and speedometer simultaneously come "alive" for a split second as well. I noticed that this happens quite frequently around 2,000 RPM or so. Why this RPM, I am not sure. During idle (900-1000 RPM), my headlights (and interior lights) do not cut out, but they do flicker. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks guys. I was thinking the same thing, and your posts have confirmed my suspicions. It has been 85 degrees the past couple days here, and the problem has subsided, but changing the alternator BEFORE I am stuck on the side of the road is a great idea!

Probably the alternator. Go to AutoZone & get it checked. You may find the battery is bad as well.
