use synthetic.....its been proven that it beats non-conventional oil in almost every test

To each his own on this one. Regular oil, if changed every 3,000 miles is just fine. There is absolutely NOTHING synthetic oil will do to protect your engine more. Its all hype and you'll just throw money away with synthetic.

Just use 10w40 Castrol GTX regular oil and an AC Delco or Purolator filter. 3,000 mile changes. That can't be beat.

When you buy some exotic engine that requires something special, then look into special oils.

Our cars are absolutely NOTHING special, far from it.

Now get ready for 10 pages of bullshit on this subject

I recently came across the Mobile 1 synthetic 0W-30. The notes on the back said, "Get all the protection from 5W-30 and 10W-30 plus better gas mileage!" But get this: it costs the same as the 5W-30 and 10W-30...

So my question is if their 0W-30 is really what it's advertised, then why do people still buy 5W/10W-30? What's the catch?

Its all bullshit.

And if anyone thinks that they will get better...or worse...gas mileage by using different oils..........I have a bridge to sell them.

I'm about to change over to Rotella diesel oil in my 347 I just built. According to many oil analysis this stuff holds up really well, and also is high in zinc.

Doesn't dino oil have a higher tendency to form sludge? Or is that only after you pass the 3k mile change mark? If so, it suggests that synthetic offers protection longer, right?
