Question Need help about headlight

Yesterday i had to jump start my 99' TA

later that night, when i turned on my headlights ON... the passenger headlight did not pop up... so i had to open it manually for the night. Once i got home i turned off my headlights off and once both headlights were down it makes a noise coming from the headlight motor on the passenger side.... everything was working perfectly never had a problem since i bought it (in 2006)... it all went bad when i jump started my car

is it still fixable? or is it time to buy a new headlight motor?

help and advice would be appreciated

new headlight motor time...or you could try those brass gears. I didn't have such great luck with them, but you might.

I think I read that the gear only uses about 180 degrees, and you can flip the plastic ones around and buy some more time. Not a 100% on this, but thought I would throw it out there.

All info can be found here:

Personally I like: lifetime warranty O'Reilly's headlight motors.

FTW.

BTW, when reinstalling, cleaning the threads on the bolts/nuts with a tap and die saves a GOOD hour of cussing.

I flipped mine 180 and the problem went from the down postion to the up position. I pulled the plastic gear off the metal hub and rotated it 90 degrees, of course I don't remember now which way. I haven't had any trouble since, it's probably been 2 years.

Don't forget to hammer down the metal tabs holding the end of the motor on. They get loose and allow extra play between the gears, that's why they strip in the first place.
