Default Z28 is becoming Harder to start...Starter?

My LS1 just hit 82K miles. When I go to start the car it doesnt start up as immediately as it did a couple days ago. It seems like the engine turns over just as quick as it did but i have to hold the key a tad bit longer...Anyone know what my issue is?

If its still turning over fine then it wouldnt be with the starter or battery. possible fuel then. If it was the starter it wouldnt want to turn over.

Your battery could be going out. You may take it to an auto parts store and get it tested to see how many CCA you have left in it. As the weather gets warmer, it could totally crap out on you if its starting to loose capacity.

doubt that would do it. any drain would be recharged by the alternator. how old is the battery and what brand is it?

I do get interstate battery, or cheap would be duralast gold. My friend ran duralast gold in his 600+ cobra and he swear by it.

go with die hard or optima. interstate does not have enough CCAs for our cars, duralasts tend to leak a lot

Just get 8 double-A Energizers and put them in series to get 12V. That's cheaper than buying a whole new car battery.

If you have any aftermarket stereo equipment in your car I'd go with a red-top Optima, if you like to use your stereo a lot with the engine off go with a yellow-top, finally if its your DD and you have no aftermarket stereo or no plans for one go with a die hard or duralast from your favorite auto parts store.

Corrosion build-up can also cause hard starts. One day it'll be fine, the next it could stumble. Check all your ****.

check fuel pressure at start up. The pressure might be bleeding off after key on and take a second to come back.

If you decide to get a new battery, may I suggest an Optima Red Top.
Best battery I've ever had... and I've used many including AC Delco, Interstate, Die Hard and Exide.

Optima Red Top
Group Number: 75/25 (8022-091)
RedTop®; Battery; UNBOXED; Group 75/25; Cold Crank Amps 720; Crank Amps 910; Reserve Capacity 90; Ampere Hour 44; Dual Terminal; L-9 5/16 in.; W-6 13/16 in.; H-7 5/8 in.;

+1 on the Optima per the reasons above. I have a yellow top and its been in 3 different vehicles going on about 6 or 7 years. Best battery ever. No leaks and I've drained it completely 2 or 3 times.

True.

Until he gets both the battery and the alternator tested, this thread is waste of time.

It could be an alternator on its way out too. Sometimes it will charge the battery fine and sometimes it won't, which would explain the occassional hard start, then the easy start.
