Will a water pump from 04 gto work on my 98.

Yes, it should fit. They don't make the LS1 WP anymore, so I think they sell the LS2's as a replacement. Ask the dealer.

The only difference is that the t-stat housing is different on the LS2.

Thanks this one was hardly use they went with an electric water pump.So I have an old hyper tech T stat from early 2001 is when i changed it should bolt on the 04 gto's were ls1's correct

No, the LS1 WP t-stat housing is the housing & the t-stat all in one (1 part).

The LS2 T-stat is completely separate from the huosing itself (2 parts).

Oops. Just re-read that. Yes, you are correct - the '04 GTOs were LS1, so everything should be interchangeable. Sorry.
