Default Wheel Bearing?

I think that I have a bad wheel bearing? It's a 95 T/A. Less than 64k miles. Incase that is important. It started a few days ago. While I am driving its a constant squeak. I only hear it when I drive by a building, car,or bridge. I hear the noise when it echos. I was wondering if its expensive to replace. If I can replace it myself and if I need any special tools. What damage could occur if it goes un-replaced for a while. Thanks for any help.

Bad wheel bearings don't squeak. They roar in a low, quiet pitch.

Squeak could be lots of different things: Dry bushings, worn U-joints, or any two metal pieces rubbing.

ok that makes sense. I changed the oil a few weeks ago. And I did notice the u-joint had slung the grease out. so that makes sense. Thanks

Check the front brake pads to see if they are about to need changing. That could be another source of your squeek.

I had a bent pad spring/clip/whatever that thing is called that the pads ride on that was rubbing the rotor that was causing that.

I had the same problem. The culprit was a the little clip that holds the passenger rear brake pad had broken. Replaced the clip, no more squeak.
