Default Electrical Gremlins

Good morning and I am a new LS1 owner. My 99 Z28 has some electrical issues. Sometimes with the car is started the horn will work nomally. Sometimes it won't work at all, and other times it works on the left side and not the right. The trunk release is intermittant as well.

The trip gage resets to zero evertime I start the car. I am certain this is cluster related and I will replace, but don't know how to keep the original mileage in tact. Can I change the chip on the cluster?

Don't suspect all these are related, but any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I had the problem of all my gauges resetting almost every time I started my car. Turned out to be the positive battery cable. Delco batteries are notorious for leaking down the cable and corroding them.

Same with me on the trip reset problem. The bolt that connected all the wires to the battery (positive side) was corroded on worn out. A replacement only cost around 1-2 dollars and fixed my problems. The trunk release is a problem with everyone's f-body. Ihave to press the release twice for the trunk to fully open.
