Default low voltage prob!!!

my 2001 trans am is having a low voltage problem i had the altinator tested and came out good but i still have low voltage and amps. It only is low when i am at a ilde with the A/C on or when my ratiator fans turn on. i think that it is making my abs and tcs lights come on i ran the code and it sead low input voltage.

i tested it at school (uti) and i only got about 30 amps and 12.4 volts under a full load????

Have you check for any broken wires around the a/c unit or fans?

Have you looked closely at the bat. cables?

I just replaced my (+) battery cables. The old ones were coroded under the insulation. I couldn't find a replacement without paying the stealership, so I made new ones. The wires are all lower gauge wires than I thought they would be. The one from the alternator to the bat was long and only 8ga I think. That thin of a wire combined with length and corosion can cause significant voltage drop.

So you have two conflicting tests on the alternator? One from a parts store and one you did? If so, I'd believe the one you did and go get a new alternator.
