Default Exhaust tone change

Hey everyone, I just started having an issue with my ls1 z28 a few days ago. I have had the same exhaust setup on my car for about 4 years now, its a flowmaster american thunder cat back exhaust with the 80 series crossflow muffler. The other day I started it up and the exhaust tone now soundsvery different than it has before. Noticeably higher pitched as opposed to the normal deep rumble. If i didnt know any better Id say someone switched my flowmaster out with a magnaflow in the middle of the night.

What could be the possible cause of the change in pitch of the exhaust? If any one can give me any clues I would appreciate it!

Get under the car and check it out. Sounds like you might have a hole somewhere.

Thank you for the advice, I got under the car today to check and sure enough theres a hole about the size of a nickel in the downpipe I believe (not really sure, kinda a newbie to car terminology). Looks like Id better start looking for a replacement.

I would say replace that 80's series. The 80's series flow is terrible! But I'm glad you found the problem.

Is it possible to seal up the hole somehow, or will I have to get a new pipe?
Also what muffler would you recommend? The 80 series was on the car when i bought it, but I personally think it sounds way too mellow for my tastes.

Borla is my favorite because you can tune the exhaust to you liking and it sounds bitchin! Failing you dont have $800 for a system I think LM2 with stock manifolds if you still have them sounds real nice.

Ill definitely have to do some shopping around. Sadly, cause of the economy im on a budget but I really want something eventually that's affordable yet better than the flowmaster setup. I used to think highly of the flowmaster setup but after doing some research on it I guess its not nearly as good as the competition.
