Default SES code 1441 evap

I got the ses light and turns out it is the evap problem. I noticed that when that light came on, i also got a strong odor of gasoline coming mostly from the rear of the vehicle. Could the valve be stuck open? If so, is it a pain to fix? oh yeah, i have 96 T/A. Thanks

Default

Probably a purge solenoid stuck open allowing vacuum to be pulled during a non-purge. Disconnect the purge solenoid hose and ck for vacuum at the solenoid..if you have vacuum replace the solenoid.
