Default Battery gauge out of whack, or is the battery on the way out?

Check out what the volt gauge shows @ idle....when I check it with a volt meter it shows 13.7 volts....

I already threw an alternator in it, could the battery be going as well!?!?!

Or is it just me???

That's normal. What does your battery read when the engine is off?

Engine off battery through the gauge in the car shows about 10 volts....I hook up my Fluke meter to the battery and it shows me 12.7 volts.

^^^Mines not!! I just had to replace the alternator because my meter would always stay at what yours is currently at. I had to buy a new battery and it eventually drained my new battery because it just wouldn't charge it fully. It should be at 14.7 volts, all the time. My old alternator's voltage regulator was on the frits, so I just bought a new alterstart 200amp alternator, sitting right at 14.7 volts all the time now!!

A perfect battery should be around 12.8 V, so you look good there from a voltage perspective. (Cranking amps is another matter -> but you don't seem to be talking about starting issues, so you should be OK there, also.)

When did you take the picture you attached? Was it recently when we had the hot weather spell and broke 80 degrees in IL? You'll notice that your voltage drops when the AC is on at idle. If your AC was off and your needle was that close to 13, your alternator is probably weak> If so, you might take it to get tested at a local auto parts store.

I actually took it this afternoon after a little cruise.....the AC was in fact off, but the tune that's in the car had both fans screaming...with the one fan only...it's reads over the 13 volt mark.

Car starts without any issues.....
