Default Fuel filter on ls1 fbody

This should be simple but I cant figure it out, wheres the spot up front where you relieve the pressure first off? And then im guessing you gotta unclip that metal piece holding the filter and just unbolt the filter to put the new one on?

I dont know how everybody else did theirs, but I didn't do that whole schrader valve thing. I just undid the filter and put the new one in, no big mess or anything. The car started right up after, maybe I was lucky, but it all worked out.

I relieved the pressure, but hardly anything came out! I probably won't even bother next time.

As far as disconnecting the battery, that's pretty much standard procedure in any repair manual, for just about any repair. I'm pretty sure it's just a liability thing.

Yep. If someone jumps in and tries to turn your car on or something while you're working on it, they don't want it to be their fault in any way.

I don't know when mine was last changed before I bought the car in 06, so I changed it last spring and had a hell of a time undoing the fittings thanks to a pile of corrosion.

The car was getting heads swapped, LTs and cam swapped so I figured it was the perfect time. lol
