wipers park in up position fix

wipers park in up position fix so there i am driving my trans am in the rain today because the brake lights quit on my truck and my wipers decided they are gonna park in the up position. i did a search and know that it's a wiper motor problem but also found a little about a fix for this with out replacing the wiper motor. something about pushing down a tab on the motor for the park position. if anyone could give me some more info on how to fix this with out replacing the motor that would be great. thanks guys
